” Who is Artist Miguel Hine anyway??”
” Who is this Costa Rician / Miami resident, Artist Miguel Hine anyway?.. An Artist of some sort they say?”
A common question asked by many artist’s to them self’s daily… I’ve been asking my self this question for year’s. Thankfully. I have always really knowing the answer. It’s quite simple really.. My artistic philosophy and outlook and I’d go as far as say, “My Mission in this Life”came with time. While a young ambitious student at prestigious art school’s across the nation, real deal hard working art school’s.. I was doing great, in all advanced classes and won over 5 academic scholarship’s won across the USA. .. All that aside, I was a mess. All I wanted to do was go Surfing, For personal reason’s I just Split! I traveled a lot through all sort of places working killer jobs, most artistically involved like Advertising Agency’s. A Surfinging Magazine * Surfos La Revista de Surf de Centro America. Crazy Adventure’s working as an Adventure Guide for Coast to Coast doing white water rafting, canopy tour’s, Horse back ridding, surf lesson.s kayaking to a deserted island in the North Pacific coast.. For Get About it!! Straight up the Apple did not fall far from the tree. I parted like a freak’ing rock star for year’s!! To the point of insanity. The way a young adventure should. I got that out of my system at a young age. Looking back, briefly a few years ago.. I’ve worked everywhere and quite frankly can sit along side *anyone and enjoy a quick positive and inquisitive conversation. Recently these past few year’s I worked in the Film industry throughout several Southern Staes as a “On set Set Decorator / Designer”
This past year here back in Miami I have been working full-time “On a Mission!” My personal life long need and goal to truly into the world I honestly believe I was born for. To finally make my true deep mark within fine Art’s.
~ HINE 2015.
- Artist Miguel Hine /Facebook Profile. New Artist Biography written by Charlotte Miller, Published in Reality Serum Magazine -Artist Feature . August issue 2015.
~ Miguel Antonio Hine was born in San José Costa Rica. He spent his first years with his family in the rain forest of the Poás Volcano in and tropical cloud forest enriched environment.
Miguel’s earliest memories are one of himself walking through coffee plantations he would walking alongside the mountain tops with his mother Lilliana. Costa Rica is a very diverse and biologically intense country from the deep giant jungles to the beautiful secluded beaches the exotic wildlife is like no other and it will leave many bold yet vibrant expressions on a young man. It is the perfect environment for an abstract expressionist like Miguel.
Miguel comes from a very talented family that was also involved with the arts. His greatest inspiration was his grandmother. Margot Ros Hine. She was Cuban born as well as a five year old prodigy concert pianist. Margot had a lifelong musical career. She was married over 60 years to a diplomat home was also the director of the national theater of Costa Rica.
At a very young age Miguel moved to a small community in Miami Florida where he spent his childhood. Living in the United States most of his life allowed Miguel the opportunity to study fine arts as well as painting on full scholarships. He studied at two of the top art schools in the nation which were. The new world school of the arts and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Miguel’s family was very excepting and supportive of his passion for the arts. “You can only learn so much on your own. There comes a point where you need guidance, direction and feedback as well as proper critiques to push you and help you develop your skills”
Following formal schooling, Miguel beget being an adventurous soul, Felt the need to travel and pursue personal aspect of his life. Miguel stated that his father’s absence had played him since childhood. With accolades and scholarships and scholastic art award to his credit, It appeared she sure was full of promise yet, he was driven by the opportunity to reconnect with his roots and his father who had been absent from his life.
Miguel returned to coaster Rica, leaving behind a flourishing career. He needed to learn more about himself. “To travel is to grow” and his experiences open his eyes, taught him about life, survival, and humility. He took every advantage to explore the not so often traveled roads as much as possible. He worked on another creative endeavors that also allowed him to stay close to what mattered most to him at the time which was nature, art and a pure lifestyle.
Miguel’s call back to the art studios was very strong. However and after a few years away from it it was time for him to return. He had missed their feet. He had missed the smell of the studios as well as the interaction with his artistic peers. Miami was evolving into a very prestigious our community that had opportunities Miguel is proud of Miami’s energetic pool of talent, growing into a melting pot of culture and diversity. His impressive body of work is not limited to the fine arts. Miguel also delivers into advertising and graphics product design helmets, surfboards, and murals. These are among some of the unconventional pieces that make up Miguel Hine’s portfolio.

My TSG Fullface helmet design commissioned artwork for my boy Wesley Ormond of AL.
Exhibiting the (L) Side of the TSG INTERNATIONAL helmet design I’m creating after it has had the first layer of artwork and paint application applied. Then shortly after this photo was taken it was airbrushed with a ghostly grey through area’s of the helmet. Finally now I will go over every line again and add more detail, a bit more drawing to complete the second half of the artistic process. And finally.. the Helmet will be airbrushed with a thick, high-impact/ scratch resistant polymer. Cant wait to present you the final product this week! ~ More photo’s to come. Stay tuned. ~ Artist
